Public Opening Reception: Friday, September 11, 2009, 6:30-8:30 PM (Rain Date: Saturday, September 26, 2009, 6:30-8:30 PM):

An outdoor sculpture and installation exhibition entitled TRIBUTARIES curated by Hudson Valley’s Collaborative Concepts, a not-for-profit, artist-run organization that has sponsored exhibitions in the Hudson Valley since 1999. The group is concurrently hosting “Collaborative Concepts at Saunders Farm” in Garrison, NY as well as “Collaborative Concepts at The Hat Factory’s Art Lot,” on North Division Street in Peekskill.

“TRIBUTARIES: Collaborative Concepts at MAXWELL FINE ARTS,” curated by artists Sarah Haviland, Jim Lloyd, and Christoper Staples.

This exhibition will include the work of these curators, as well as the work of A. Eric Arctander, Jo-Ann Brody, Jodi Carlson, Cathrin Hoskinson, Michael Natiello, Leslie Pelino and Francesca Samsel. These ten artists approach the theme “water” both abstractly and associatively, without physically using water. For example, A. Eric Arctander represents tributaries of the Hudson, especially its source, Tear of the Clouds; Michael Natiello’s life-size fishing shack celebrates the particularities of the Hudson River; and Leslie Pelino’s underwater invertebrates emerge from surprising and innovative materials. The stone walled terraces of MAXWELL FINE ARTS Sculpture Garden, underneath which runs McGregory Brook, form an inspired setting for this “tributary” exhibition of ideas merging Hudson River’s history, nature and art. Exhibition continues through November 2009.
